26 January 2023 at 14:03 Historical record for green investments 2022 was the first year in which as much was invested in the transition to green energy as in fossil fuels. This is according to an overview from Bloomberg NEF. A total of 1,100 billion US dollars – almost NOK 11,000 billion – was invested in green energy last year. The money went, among other things, to renewable energy, electrification of transport and heating, battery production and other things. The same amount was invested in the extraction of oil and gas, as well as in building fossil-based power plants without CO2 storage. From 2021 to 2022, investments in green energy increased by around NOK 2,500 billion. Bloomberg NEF writes that the investments are not enough to reach the goal of zero emissions in the year 2050. To reach that goal, the world must triple investments immediately.
