Here the locomotive is lifted away from the accident site – news Nordland

It was Thursday 24 October that a train on the Nordlandsbanen derailed after running into a rock slide in Hemnes. The locomotive driver, a man in his 60s, died in the accident, and four people were injured. There were 46 passengers on board. The weekend after the accident, disturbances were recorded in the rock masses above the derailed train, and Bane Nor assessed it as a stone block weighing several tonnes just above the crash site. The area was then secured before several large cranes were set up to lift out the locomotive and the two carriages. Large cranes are rigged up to lift the locomotive away from the accident site.
