21 November 2022 at 13:15 Østberg ready for World Cup comeback The Cross-Country Ski Association has selected 24 runners, 12 women and 12 men, for the World Cup opening in Ruka 25–27 November. Ingrid Flugstad Østberg is among the runners who can participate. In Ruka, both women and men will do a classic sprint on Friday, a 10 km classic on Saturday and a 20 km pursuit start free technique on Sunday. Flugstad Østberg has three times since autumn 2019 been refused a start due to the health situation. In the weekend’s season opener at Beitostølen, she started after receiving an approved health certificate and impressed with a third place in Saturday’s 10 kilometer classic. The Gjøvik runner has only participated in three World Cup races in the last two seasons. Joining Ruka are also this weekend’s winners from Beitostølen, Even Northug (sprint), Kristine Stavås Skistad (sprint), Anne Kjersti Kalvå (distance) and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (sprint and distance).
