Here, PST arrests the man who is suspected of being a Russian spy – news Troms and Finnmark

On Saturday afternoon, the police’s security service (PST) showed footage of the arrest of José Assis Giammaria, who they actually believe is Russian Mikhail Valeryevich Mikushin. The video was shown at the journalist conference Skup in Tønsberg, where around 650 journalists and media people participate. In the video, Mikusjin can be seen walking alone on his way to work as a visiting researcher at UiT Norway’s Arctic University (UiT). After a short time, two other people enter the picture, who quickly move closer to Mikusjin. When they catch up with him, they go up on separate sides of Mikusjin, and shortly after it is clear that he is being handcuffed. Mikusjin was arrested on 24 October 2022, and has been in custody since. Charged with espionage On 28 October, he was charged with Section 121 of the Penal Code – illegal intelligence which may damage fundamental national interests. He has pleaded not guilty. PST believes Mikusjin is a so-called “illegalist”. That is, a person who has built up an identity as an ordinary citizen, while quietly working for foreign intelligence.
