Here are the most exciting game titles in 2023 – Reviews and recommendations

“Starfield” Developer: Bethesda Game Studios Publisher: Bethesda Softworks Platform: PC and Xbox Series X/S Launch: First half of 2023 “Elder Scrolls” in space. I can’t think of any cooler descriptions of a game. But that is exactly what “Starfield” tries to do. A giant sci-fi RPG with a thousand planets to explore, enormous freedom to do that exploration at your own pace and a style described as “NASA punk”. It’s my dream game, quite simply. And thus my expectations are about as astronomical as the drop height. I’m incredibly excited to see how good “Starfield” actually ends up being. “Hollow Knight: Silksong” Developer: Team Cherry Publisher: Team Cherry Platform: PC, Playstation, Xbox, Switch, Mac, Linux Launch: First half of 2023 “Hollow Knight” is relentlessly challenging. But it is also heartbreakingly beautiful and dazzlingly creatively put together. It is so good that it is now placed high on many lists of the best games of all time. In this sequel, there will be a reunion with one of the coolest characters in the original, who sets out on a completely new adventure. It looks extremely promising. “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” Developer: Nintendo EPD Publisher: Nintendo Platform: Switch Launch: May 12, 2023 That “Zelda” games are always good is a well-established truth in the gaming world. And when many consider “Breath of the Wild” to be the series’ best and most immersive game, it’s no wonder that expectations are soaring when the stage is now set for a pure sequel. It is promised a darker continuation of everything that made “Breath of the Wild” so good, as well as a load of exciting innovations. “Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon” Developer: From Software Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment Platform: PC, Playstation, Xbox Launch: 2023 Before “Dark Souls”, “Bloodborne”, “Sekiro” and “Elden Ring”, From Software lifted to game developers’ absolute elite division, the company puzzled with the mech series “Armored Core”. Now they are bringing all their experience and the loads of money from the mega-success “Elden Ring” into a new “Armored Core” game, and the stated goal is to breathe new life into the entire genre. This can be so tough! “Little Devil Inside” Developer: Neostream Interactive Publisher: Neostream Interactive Platform: PC, Playstation, Xbox and Switch Launch: 2023 “Little Devil Inside” was on my list of the most anticipated games in 2022 as well, and you always get a little stressed when games are postponed and disappear a little from the radar. But the whole concept and everything that has been shown so far screams quality. We’re talking about an experience that borrows a bit from hardcore games like “Dark Souls” and mixes it with absurd Monty Python-like humor. “Judas” Developer: Ghost Story Games Publisher: Take 2 Interactive Platform: PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S Launch: 2023 Ken Levine was the architect behind “Thief”, chief designer of “System Shock 2” and creator of “Bioshock” and “Bioshock Infinite”. It is not exactly the worst starting point that “Judas” can have. With Levine at the helm, it moves steadily towards a clever story, bizarre surroundings and cool action experiences. “Diablo IV” Developer: Blizzard Team 3/Blizzard Albany Publisher: Blizzard Entertainment Platform: PC, Playstation, Xbox Release: June 6, 2023 When a new “Diablo” game is on the way, “anticipated” is a solid understatement. Blizzard also has a lot to prove now, after the negative reception of the mobile game “Diablo Immortal” and the ongoing criticism for murky company culture. Personally, I think “Diablo” looks better in a long time. “Replaced” Developer: Sad Cat Studios Publisher: Coatsink Platform: PC and Xbox Launch: 2023 The last few years have shown us that indie games can seriously compete with huge blockbuster releases. “Replaced” really has that potential. It has ridiculously gorgeous pixel graphics, cinematic action playability and a gorgeous cyberpunk world. “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” Developer: Rocksteady Studios Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Platform: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S Launch: May 26, 2023 Rocksteady Studios established itself as one of the toughest heavyweights in the gaming world with the brilliant “Batman Arkham Asylum” in 2009. They have remained in DC- universe since, and now it’s the turn of “Suicide Squad”. The combination of pitch-black humour, crazy action and the world’s strangest group of anti-heroes can mean pure gaming magic. “Witchfire” Developer: The Astronauts Publisher: The Astronauts Platform: PC Launch: Early 2023 (early access) “Witchfire” appears as a checklist of cool game tricks. It’s a cross between “Bloodborne” and “Doom”, with tough monsters, huge bosses, firearms, magic, dark ages and the flow of movement from “Dishonored”. + a number of Norwegian games It will be an extremely exciting year for Norwegian games, with the planned release of: “Snusmumrikken” “Dune: Awakening” “Dustborn” “Vikings on Trampolines” “Seablip” “Project Thalassa” “Ikonei Island” “The Cabin Maybe there will also be: “Teslagrad 2” “Havspielet” “The Holy Gosh Darn” “Out on a trip” “Voidcast” It can take off! Maybe, maybe not DATE UNKNOWN: Kojima Productions recently released the trailer for “Death Stranding 2,” but has not set a release date. Photo: Kojima Productions/Sony Interactive In addition, there are several long-awaited big games that could potentially come out in 2023, but probably won’t. “Death Stranding 2”, “Hades 2”, “Metroid Prime 4” and the next game of the Danish superstars of Playdead (“Limbo” and “Inside”), for example. For its part, Sony is gearing up for the February launch of Playstation VR 2 for PS5, a virtual reality upgrade that really smacks of mass appeal. At the very end … Hello, game friends!
