6 February 2024 at 17:59 Jordan lowered South Korea – to its first final in the Asian Championship Jordan is ready for its very first final in the Asian Championship after a 2-0 victory in the semi-final against the favorites from South Korea. This winter’s championship in Qatar is the 18th edition of the Asian Championship, but only the fifth time that Jordan has participated. Previously, they have never made it further than the quarter-finals, but on Tuesday they cheered uncontrollably after the final place was secured. It came after Mousa Al-Taamari and Yazan Al-Naimat scored a goal each after the break against a South Korean side loaded with Premier League stars Son Heung-min and Hwang Hee-chan. Jordan is in 87th place in the Fifa rankings, and in September they lost 0-6 in a private international match against Norway. South Korea, by comparison, is in 23rd place in the Fifa rankings, and has been to six finals in the Asian Championship. On Wednesday, host nation Qatar and Iran will meet in the second semi-final, where it will be decided who will face Jordan in Saturday’s final.
