A lot of rain is expected in southern Norway this week. In some places, it is suggested that 150 mm of rain may fall until Sunday. The precipitation that comes will alternate between snow, sleet and rain on the coast. The meteorologists encourage people to calculate extra time if they are going out for a drive and ask people to drive according to the conditions. – If you are going over the mountain tomorrow, you should drive now, or postpone the trip, says meteorologist Dina Stabell. Freezing rain On Wednesday, between 15 and 30 cm of snow is expected within 24 hours in southern Norway. State meteorologist Charalampos Sarchosidis says winds from the west bring with them moisture from the sea which leads to the rainfall. – On the coast of Agder it can rain, but you won’t go far inland before it snows, he says. The weather can lead to slippery roads, but the meteorologist believes it is the snow that will cause problems in traffic. A yellow warning has also been sent out about strong gusts of wind in parts of Rogaland, Vestland and Møre og Romsdal – There may be local gusts of 27 to 30 meters per second. It applies from Wednesday morning to Wednesday evening, says meteorologist Stabell. The Norwegian Meteorological Institute recommends that people secure loose objects and avoid unnecessary traffic in exposed places. In the mountains, there will be snow. If you have to travel over the mountain, there may be convoys. Then Våsjø has the following advice: – Bring food, clothes and follow the instructions of the plowing personnel who are on the mountain. Cold in the north A high pressure will dominate the weather in the north. That means cold temperatures, especially on the Finnmarksvidda. Temperatures will drop to minus 30 degrees.
