This Monday, a significant heatwave is set to impact ten autonomous communities in Spain, alongside Ceuta and Melilla, as maximum temperatures soar towards 40ºC. Aemet forecasts a generally stable day with high temperatures prevailing over most of the country. Skies will remain lightly cloudy, punctuated by medium to high cloud intervals. The north regions of Galicia and the western Cantabrian Sea are an exception, with cloudy conditions likely leading to scattered morning precipitation.
Afternoon Showers and Thunderstorms
As the day progresses, varying cloud cover may contribute to possible showers and storms in the interior northwest and eastern parts of the peninsula. Particularly in Galicia’s interior and southeast regions, dry but potent storms may occur, accompanied by strong gusts and hail. Fog banks are anticipated in Galicia and the Cantabrian zone during the morning, along with hazy conditions in southern and eastern regions.

Maximum temperatures are projected to slightly increase in eastern regions and the Balearic Islands, with large areas of the peninsula and the Balearics likely surpassing 35ºC. Notably, the interior of Andalusia and parts of the southeast are expected to see temperatures exceed 40ºC, while minimum temperatures are stable, possibly facilitating tropical nights in the southeastern regions and the Balearics.

Wind conditions include trade winds in the Canary Islands, with strong intervals predicted, particularly in exposed areas. Moderate winds from the west are expected in the Gulf of Cádiz and Estrecho, alongside winds from the north and northeast on the coasts of Catalonia, Cantabria, and Galicia. The rest of the peninsula will experience light winds, intensifying in the afternoon, with varying directions based on local geography.
