– I would say I was 15 years old. I have read a little in my diaries. A woman in her late 30s testified before Haugaland and Sunnhordland District Court today. She told about extensive contact with the man who is currently charged with the murder of Birgitte Tengs. This contact must have ceased around the turn of the millennium. She recounted several unpleasant episodes. – In the bedroom, I was just going to look at some clothes, but then things developed, said the woman. She said the man licked her toes while she was sitting in bed reading a Billy magazine. – Then he was allowed to lick my feet. It was not a cool situation to be in. Then I got NOK 200. I accepted them. I was young and needed money. In the period before this, he had driven her and a friend on several occasions. The woman was born in the early 80s, and said that she was between 14 and 16 when the contact between them was at its peak. She believed that he drove her several times, wearing women’s clothes. The one time he was supposed to have been naked underneath. – He probably thought it was exciting to expose himself a little, said the woman. Bought underwear The woman said that the man bought her underwear and clothes, and gave her used clothes on several occasions. She believed that the contact between them had been innocent at first, but it became more and more sexualized talk as time went on. – “Grooming” nobody knew about at the time. The perception of him afterwards, when I have grown up, is that he tried to “groom” me, said the woman. She went on to say that her father did not like the contact with the man, and gradually there were secret meetings. She did not write about the sexual in her diaries. She also said that the man kissed her once, and had exclaimed that he had wished she was older. Furthermore, the woman said that she went to a house she assumed belonged to the man’s parents, and several times to a sea shed that the man had. The woman eventually ended up in a drug environment, and left Haugalandet when she was 19. – He was the one who drove me to the ferry. Stunned at times After the woman had explained herself, and received questions from prosecutor Unni Byberg Malmin, she was asked several critical questions from defender Stian Kristensen. He wondered if the woman mixed up the dates, as she had said the contact was between when she was 14 and 16. – If I tell you that the sea shed was ready in the spring of 2000? The woman was then older than 16. – I have no comment on that, answered the woman. Kristensen could also say that his house was built in 2002. The woman had said that she had seen the house under construction, and people who worked there. – It may be that he built several houses. Not sure it was his house, answered the woman. Kristensen also stated that for part of the time the woman told about driving with the man, the latter was without a driving licence. – But he drove, said the woman. Then the defender returned to the sea shed. Defender Stian Kristensen was puzzled by parts of the woman’s explanation. Photo: Marthe Synnøve Johannessen / news – Sjøboden you say that you have been there, and that he had women’s clothes there. You have also said that in the sea shed you looked out onto the water. The accused pointed to the right and told where Birgitte Tengs’ parents had a house. Three, four houses away, he read from the interrogation. – I don’t know if it was all the way to the right or diagonally. But it was on that side, the woman replied. – But there are at least two miles between the sea house and where Birgitte Teng’s parents live. – I do not know. – Is this something you made up? – I have nothing to gain by making things up. This is my story. Kristensen was also surprised that the woman did not write anything in the diaries about the sexual contact with the man, at the same time that she wrote that she drove with him. In the diaries it must have been described as “fun” and that she got things from him. The 52-year-old has said in his explanation that he remembers very little of the contact with the woman. Only in connection with a screening in Haugesund. To that she replied: – It’s just bullshit, He’s not telling the truth. Both women who have explained themselves today said that the man drove a green car in the 90s. One described it as light green. The man is said to have owned an Opel Ascona in the 90s. She was one of those he drove around in the time period around when Birgitte Tengs was killed. She said that driving with him was mostly fine, although she and her friends described him as a bit “strange”. But once something happened which she characterized as unpleasant. – He drove up to a guard rail and tried to kiss me. I bit his tongue, the woman said. – I didn’t think it was right, but I didn’t feel threatened in any way. The woman said that she too received underwear as a gift from the man, who was then in his 20s, while she was a teenager. – We thought it was a bit funny and a bit special. I guess he was trying to be nice, the woman said. The 52-year-old defendant explained about driving with this woman and her friends in his statement. It must have started a little before and ended a little after Birgitte Tengs was killed. Birgitte Tengs was found murdered on 6 May 1995. A 52-year-old man from Karmøy is now charged in the Tengs case, and the trial begins on Monday 7 November 2022.
