The Enigmatic Journey of Lucila Garombo: From Nun to Star of La Voz Argentina
In an unexpected twist during the blind auditions of The Voice Argentina 2025, Lucila Garombo stunned both judges and the audience with her unique story. As she performed “Enters My Home,” originally popularized by Los Mansos Santiago, she captured the attention of renowned judge Soledad Pastorutti, who promptly turned her chair. However, it was Lucila’s revelation that truly left everyone in awe: “I was a nun for six years.”
This confession instantly piqued the interest of fellow judge Lali Espósito, who humorously referenced her own role in the soap opera My Hope. At just 31 years old, Lucila hails from Alejandro Roca, a quaint town in southern Córdoba. Her life story, interwoven with themes of art, spirituality, and music, is marked by significant decisions and an enduring faith that remains strong even as she steps into the limelight.
A Musical Venture Rooted in Faith
Lucila’s foray into music began long before her unexpected television breakthrough. Known within her religious community and in various Catholic music circles, she recorded an album titled “From the Soul” several years ago. This collection, comprising twelve songs, was created to raise funds for her congregation and presented live at the esteemed Opus Theater in Río Cuarto back in December 2017. Here, Lucila revealed her musical talents to an audience that extended beyond the convent’s walls, offering a glimpse into her dual life as a nun and artist.

Her journey into the monastic life began at the age of 23 when she entered the Santa María Visitation Monastery in Río Cuarto. As a cloistered nun, her life was characterized by a contemplative regime that combined prayer, silence, and communal tasks. She noted with humor, “It was not active life like Lali, who had a school;” rather, her days were more introspective.
Life Decisions and Spiritual Awakening
Lucila’s call to the convent stemmed from an upbringing steeped in practical Catholicism. Spending her adolescence pursuing sports such as hockey and soccer, she had aspirations of becoming an actress. After completing high school, she moved to Buenos Aires to study Drama at the University of Buenos Aires. However, her life’s trajectory shifted dramatically after attending a Young Easter event that stirred a long-simmering spiritual calling.
She recalls the moment fondly, stating, “I think I always had the vocation, it was necessary to discover it.” It became clear to her that she wanted to devote her life to God, prompting her to leave university studies to pursue a path in the convent.

Lucila recorded an album for her congregation and composed more than 31 songs inspired by her faith.
Throughout her six years in the monastery, Lucila continued to nurture her love for music, even learning to play the guitar at the tender age of five. She composed over 31 songs, many of which were infused with spiritual messages. A significant adaptation was her version of “HAPPY THE FOUR” by Maluma, transitioning it into a piece about redemption and soul care. “Music is the way I have to mission. I would like people to listen to the Lord in my songs,” she expressed.
Dramatic art also played a role in her convent life, as she actively participated in theatrical works crafted for liturgical occasions, showcasing her acting flair alongside her musical talent.
The Decision to Leave the Convent
Despite her deep connection to her faith, Lucila eventually recognized a void within her life. “I wasn’t finding myself full. It was not an easy decision to make. I left with my faith intact,” she disclosed publicly during her time on television. Leaving the convent was a significant personal transformation, yet she embraced the decision wholeheartedly.
Lucila Garombo’s journey from a cloistered nun to a rising star on The Voice Argentina serves as an inspiring testament to faith, passion, and the quest for self-discovery. Her story resonates with many, exemplifying the notion that everyone’s path is uniquely their own, and that embracing change can lead to fulfilling and unexpected journeys.
