Bye admits to having abused his position as a doctor towards the woman who was in her 20s during a gynecological examination with him. But he does not admit to raping her. During a gynecological examination, the doctor admits to having smeared her abdomen with cream. – I was made to understand that any lubrication for more than a few seconds is punishable or inadequate. – Why me and not the others? The accused doctor does not admit to having done anything wrong to the eleven women who have explained themselves first in the trial against him. – I am left with a lot of questions, at the same time as I am relieved to think that he has actually admitted that he has done something that was inappropriate. This is what the woman says to news after she testified in court. – I think it feels strange. Why me, why not the others?, she asks in wonder. Bye is accused of raping 87 women and of abusing his position as a doctor to obtain sexual relations with a total of 94 women. – The scope is much larger than 94. I know that there are many more people who have been hurt and who have experienced worse things than me, says the woman who is part of the indictment. A total of 114 women have had their cases dismissed. – It’s completely insane. If someone had told me that this would happen at Frosta, I wouldn’t have believed them. The woman says that she thinks it is important to come forward to tell that this can happen anywhere and with anyone. – But fortunately it has stopped now, she adds. The case against the former municipal superintendent and GP in Frosta municipality will go to court from 5 November to 18 February. Standing on all fours in the gynecologist’s chair The twelfth woman who explains herself in court was in her 20s when the rape allegedly took place. According to the indictment, Bye allegedly touched the woman’s clitoris in a masturbation-like manner. Bye thus acknowledges that it was inadequate to spend a long time applying cream to the woman’s abdomen. But he believes that the treatment was decided to take place. Therefore, he does not admit to having raped the woman. On one occasion, the woman ended up in the gynecologist’s chair when she went to the doctor for follow-up after an injury to her back. – Both times I ended up in the GU chair, and cream was smeared on, says the woman. The woman says that the doctor must have smeared large parts of her abdomen, including the clitoris, with cream during a gynecological examination. She tells of a time when she was having an examination at Bye’s and was asked to get on all fours in the gynecologist’s chair. – He has used a vaginal speculum in my rectum. When I’m usually sitting in the gynecologist’s chair, but also when I’ve stood on all fours, says the woman. The woman told the court that she found out that the former GP had filmed her during a gynecological examination. The video was not shown in court. In retrospect, the woman says that she is left with shame that she did not understand something sooner and had to stop the doctor. – I thought I was a good connoisseur of people, but now I feel that I am not at all. Meiner Bye looked for mistakes The eleventh woman who explained herself in court is said to have been raped during a doctor’s visit at a care home. – The doctor squatted down and looked into my abdomen. That’s according to a woman who was in her 20s when the rape allegedly took place. She received a doctor’s visit from Arne Bye at a care home in Trøndelag and was placed in a bed for a gynecological examination. – After he finished the examination, he took two or three fingers into the vagina, adds the woman. The former municipal superintendent is accused of inserting fingers and/or objects into the women’s vagina and/or anus. According to the indictment, this must have happened in connection with medical examinations where the women sat in a gynaecologist’s chair. They should not have had an overview of what the doctor did and were unable to oppose the actions. Arne Bye is charged with a breach of the Penal Code 1902 § 192 first and second paragraph and the Penal Code 2005 § 291/§ 292 for rape by having sexual intercourse with someone who was unable to resist this. Bye is charged with rape and abuse of position for touching her genitals in a masturbation-like manner during a gynecological examination. – He seemed interested in finding out if there was anything else wrong. It was disgusting, says the woman about the abdominal examinations the doctor is accused of. But Bye does not admit to having done anything wrong towards her or the ten other women who have appeared in court before her. Had to sit on the doctor’s lap The woman also tells about other episodes at Bye’s doctor’s office. – There were many other small episodes. I had to sit on his lap. She says that the doctor must have asked her to sit on his lap with her face towards the doctor so that she would stretch her back. – I couldn’t look him in the eye. It was so small. The woman says she had to do this three times. – It is abnormal to ask young people to sit on their lap, she adds. Where can you get help? She gets questions about this from both the prosecutor and Bye’s defense counsel. – And it can seem very confusing, but that’s because I’ve left things out. Admits three rapes The defendant admits three out of 87 rapes. He also admits to 35 cases of abusing his position as a doctor to obtain sexual intercourse. But he does not admit to having done anything wrong to any of the three who reported against him in 2006.
