The midfielder’s cannon hit meant that the team renewed their Premier League contract and avoided relegation, which would have been the first time in 72 years. But during the match, which was to end with euphoria for Everton, there was an incident that many people were to notice. In the hosts’ goal area, there was a heated altercation between Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke and Everton’s last defender Jordan Pickford. The 2-1 victory is therefore of no use, and they have to take the difficult trip down a division. So must Leeds. They were dependent on losing points to both Everton and Leicester, which they didn’t get, and in addition they lost the last game of the season. Tottenham, led by a venomous Harry Kane, proved too strong at Elland Road. A 1-3 loss and relegation is therefore a foregone conclusion for Leeds.
