– Have practiced lifting the bum – news Culture and entertainment

Maybe you think hide and seek is a game and innocent fun? Then you have to believe again. In a new programme, it becomes bloody serious when ten people will compete for a Norwegian title in hiding. – I have been pressured to do things I never thought I would do. That’s what Heidi Røneid says, who most people know as a chess commentator on TV 2. She is one of the participants in news’s new reality program “NM in disguise”. As the title says, this is a Norwegian championship – a real Norwegian championship – in what is perhaps the world’s most played game. COMPETITIVE INSTINCT: Heidi Røneid takes a little rest between hiding. Photo: Espen Solli The participants in “NM in disguise” are (read more about the participants at the bottom of the article): Heidi Røneid, Hedda Skaug, Magnus Devold, Martin Lilleberg, Myra, Jon Martin Henriksen, Johan Færaas, Tamanna Agnihotri and Kari Schibevaag. Practiced lifting your ass In the championship, the goal is (you guessed it) to hide. But it is anything but easy when the competitions offer nerve-wracking exercises and whimsical challenges. The chess expert Røneid took the assignment seriously: Before the recording, she practiced hiding with her roommate in the flat they live in. – I have hidden in the laundry basket and many other strange places. The only place he didn’t find me was at the top of one cupboard, she says. Heidi Røneid managed to stay hidden from her roommate when she hid at the top of a cupboard. Heidi Røneid did not want to let a NM title pass her by, and she put in hard training before the recording. According to herself, her greatest strength is that she is strategic, good at analyzing and foreseeing what others are going to do. – But I’m not particularly fast physically. Before the recording, I therefore practiced running together with a friend who has been very good at athletics. He said I ran sitting. So I’ve practiced lifting my bum, admits Røneid. From Norway’s toughest to hiding One who, on the other hand, can excel with her physique is a former gymnast and the best girl in “Norway’s toughest” this year, namely Hedda Skaug. – I am very good at hiding and finding solutions. And then I’m small and sporty, and that has a lot to say, she says. There were still two things that surprised him. – Playing hide and seek with adults was incredibly fun! And it also surprised me that Magnus Devold was as good as he was. Many had low expectations of him because of his height, and he was ridiculed a little because of that. But it turned out that he was a super leader, she says. The participants in the NM in hide and seek tell about their best qualities Inspiring others Magnus Devold can confirm this himself: – I am good at thinking outside the box. Since I’m tall, I also have a good overview when I’m looking. And I’m good at thinking, emphasizes the comedian. Nevertheless, Devold realizes that being 1.99 meters tall does not speak in his favor in the first place. – That is a huge disadvantage. Other participants get a place where I can’t, or can hide behind things I can’t. I simply have to hide in a slightly different way, he says. As a true top athlete, he refuses to be limited by his physique: – I want to prove that people who have bad attitudes can also be an inspiration, not just for the nation of Norway, but for the whole world, he adds. HEIGHT: Magnus Devold is almost 2 meters tall, but intends to use it to his advantage in the “NM in hide and seek”. She agreed to the job because she loves the idea of lifting hide-and-seek from play to serious sports. – There were some qualities that knocked me to the ground. – I had a moment where Martin (Martin Lilleberg, editor’s note) disappeared under a log and turned into a bush in front of my eyes. It felt supernatural and was a real “gasp” moment for me, says Nelvik. In addition, Emil Gukild and Sander Dale will be commentators during the competitions.
