19 November 2023 at 18:38 IDF: Has found a 55 meter long tunnel under the Shifa hospital in Gaza The Israeli army says it has found a 55 meter long tunnel under the Gaza Strip’s largest hospital Al Shifa. The Israeli military (IDF) published a video on Sunday of what it describes as a tunnel dug by armed Palestinians under the Al Shifa hospital. The tunnel is 10 meters deep and extends 55 meters to an explosion-proof door, according to the IDF. – This type of door is used by the terrorist organization Hamas to prevent Israeli forces from entering command centers and the underground facilities belonging to Hamas, says the IDF in a statement attached to the video. The IDF surrounded the Al Shifa hospital over a week ago, and on Wednesday Israeli soldiers entered the large hospital complex full of patients, health workers and thousands of fleeing Palestinian civilians. Israel has accused Hamas of having a command center in or under the hospital, but has not released any evidence of this. The claim is rejected by the hospital management, the Ministry of Health and Hamas itself. According to the IDF, the photo shows a tunnel entrance at the Al Shifa hospital in Gaza. The IDF has also previously claimed that a photo of a hatch proves that the Qatar hospital in Gaza is connected to Hamas’s tunnel system. The claim was later refuted by verkächt.no. (NTB)
