Have discovered several leaks in the roof of Follobanen – news Oslo og Viken – Local news, TV and radio

Bane Nor previously announced that new information would arrive on Friday evening at 19, but now writes on its website that new information will come on Saturday at 5.00. The Blixtunnel was closed yesterday afternoon because alkaline water is dripping from the roof, which can cause the aluminum cable hanging there to burst. This was probably the reason why a overhead cable was torn down by a train on Monday. Then 70 passengers were stuck in the tunnel for almost three hours. Bane Nor says there is a risk that the same thing could happen again. – We inspected the tunnel last night, and found a few more leakage points, says Øystein Stavdal Paulsen, press officer at Bane Nor. – They must be sealed and damage to the power cable repaired before we can reopen to traffic. Almost 40 km of tunnel must be checked to make sure everything is working as it should. Repairmen have fitted a fiberglass plate over the hole in the picture at the top of the case. The plate guides the water down the side of the tunnel, so that it does not damage the power cable. Photo: Spordrift Bane Nor is now working to open a race in the tunnel. It can happen during the evening. Director Lars Berge says that the water dripping is not dangerous, but that it can lead to a halt in train traffic. – I don’t want to trap people in the tunnel, so we are now taking precautions. We have to go through the tunnel, see that everything is in order before we can open again, Berge told news yesterday. Water leaks in the Blixtunnel were also one of the reasons why the Follobanen had to close for three months shortly after opening on 11 December 2022. Many problems on the Follobanen The Follobanen runs between Oslo and Ski, and opened on 11 December last year. The railway line cost NOK 36.8 billion to build. It is the most expensive transport project on land in Norway ever. On the same day that the track opened, a signal error occurred which led to the trains having to run at a reduced speed. The track was completely closed to traffic a little over a week later, due to heat build-up in the technical facility. It was only reopened on 5 March this year. Bane Nor has previously announced that the Folloban line will also be closed throughout July for maintenance in the tunnel system. Read all the stories about the Follobanen here.
