The National Audit Office has examined parliamentary representatives’ use of, among other things, commuter accommodation and travel expenses. They have looked at whether the representatives have received the financial arrangements in line with the law and concluded agreements. Auditor General Karl Eirik Schjøtt-Pedersen will present the results of the survey on Thursday. The National Audit Office has looked at these schemes and time periods: Resignation benefits and severance pay: Investigated individual representatives in the period 2012 to 2021. Commuter housing: Investigated individual representatives in the period 2009 to 2021. Travel expenses: System analysis for the period 2018 to 2022. Presents 50 names According to Aftenposten and VG, the National Audit Office will name around 50 politicians who have received too much severance pay from the Storting It was on 6 January last year that the Storting tasked the National Audit Office with conducting investigations into matters relating to the representatives of the Storting’s financial arrangements. It came in the wake of the media’s revelations about commuter housing and severance pay for parliamentary representatives. The survey covers how around 500 representatives have used one or more of these financial schemes. In addition, they have examined how the Storting’s presidency and administration have managed and controlled the arrangements and regulations.
