She then stepped on the gas, which caused her to lose control of the car and cross into the oncoming lane, says Kvalvik. The speed limit at the place where the accident occurred is 70 kilometers per hour. Three died It was in June this year that two cars collided inside the Blindheim Tunnel on the E39 in Ålesund. The tunnel is located approximately one mile from the center of Ålesund, close to the Moa shopping centre. There are two lanes in the tunnel. The tunnel had to be closed for several hours after the collision. In one car sat three women in their 40s and 50s. They were on their way home from a summer show at Teaterfabrikken in Ålesund when the accident happened. Two of them died in the accident. The third later died in hospital. Has not taken a decision on questions of criminal liability Following the accident, the driver of the other car, a woman in her 20s, was charged with careless driving. In November, the charge was expanded to include negligent homicide. So far, according to the police, it has not been relevant to target some of the others who were in the same car. There were a total of four people in their 20s in this car. These were slightly to moderately injured in the accident. According to the police, the defendant has not decided on the issue of criminal liability at the present time. So far, news has not been able to get in touch with the woman’s defense attorney. The main hearing will take place over three days, from 7 to 9 March 2023.
