Has previously revealed plans to knock out parts of the power grid – news Norway – Overview of news from various parts of the country

– Tryggingstenesta has revealed concrete plans to knock out parts of the Norwegian power grid. This is what Vigdis Grønhaug, assistant director of the National Insurance Agency (NSM) says at Energidagane to NVE on Thursday, Teknisk Ukeblad reports. On Friday morning, press officer at NSM Herman Ringstad clarified to news that this had not been revealed recently. But that throughout history such sabotage plans have been revealed. Grønhaug said on Thursday that there is no other vital activity where society can be paralyzed for a long time with simple means. – The power grid is a target for sabotage and malicious acts. The power industry is one of the most valuable things we have, said Grønhaug. Russians in the power sector Grønhaug believes that the industry, among other things, must ask itself how many Russians work in the power sector in Norway today, and how much Chinese technology is being used. – We know that Russians work there. They are then an inside threat. They can easily access information about the most important values in the power sector, which can be exploited by Russia, says Grønhaug to Teknisk Ukeblad. – That is the big risk, he adds. – Good preparedness Kristian Markegård, responsible for security in the power supply at NVE, believes on the other hand that Norway has a robustness in the power supply that many would envy. – There is not a single switch that takes out our power system, not even parts of it, he says. He further explains that we have redundancy, a good network and good preparedness. NVE has also staffed operational centers that will detect if something is not right, says Markegård. Clarification: An earlier version of the case could give the impression that the plans to knock out the power grid were revealed recently, but NSM clarifies that it is a question of revelations through history.
