Harris spoke from the White House – do not talk about your own politics – news Urix – Foreign news and documentaries

“One day done, 105 are still there. Together we will win this,” wrote Kamala Harris on Twitter on Monday evening, just before she took the podium outside the White House. There was great excitement surrounding the speech and over a hundred members of the press had turned up. This was her first public appearance after Joe Biden pointed to her as the new presidential candidate for the Democrats. Harris was present as Biden’s representative, as he is still sick with corona. She did not, as many had hoped, use the opportunity to talk about her own politics and her desire to become the next president of the United States. Although in the last 24 hours she will have spent hours on the phone with party leaders, members of Congress and governors to strengthen herself as a presidential candidate, she put the spotlight on everyone but herself on Monday evening. After Biden announced that he was withdrawing as a presidential candidate, supporters of Kamala Harris rallied outside the White House on Sunday. Harris said that she first got to know Biden through his late son Beau Biden. The way he is supposed to have portrayed his father to her, she must have known in his role as president. Honesty, integrity, fidelity to his faith and family, his big heart and deep love for our country, are qualities she highlighted about the president. – Every day, Biden fights for his country. We are deeply grateful for his service to this nation. And then she moved on to talk about the athletes. It was all over in five minutes. And with that, even more excitement is attached to the next speech. Kamala Harris honors Joe Biden in a speech outside the White House on Monday. Not being clear enough Harris has been criticized all along for not being clear enough on the podium. This is one of the reasons why she lost popularity as Joe Biden’s vice president. She has not been able to present a clear vision for the country, or explain well enough how she will improve the lives of potential voters, write the New York Times. A year after her inauguration, she was seen as the least popular vice-president of all time, which can also be explained by the fact that she was given so-called “unpopular tasks” by Biden, such as handling immigration on the border with Mexico. When she now aims to become the Democrats’ new presidential candidate, it is therefore important that she manages to convince her skeptics. But she has a bad time. There are just over 100 days until Americans go to the polls. Favourite, but not formally Many of Harris’ possible challengers have lined up behind her in the last 24 hours. Harris is therefore a clear favorite to take over as presidential candidate. But it has not been decided whether it will be her. The Democrats will formally choose their candidate in August. Former President Barack Obama and former Congress leader Nancy Pelosi have both come out and said that they support Biden’s resignation, but have not yet said whether they stand behind Harris as the new presidential candidate. According to the New York Times, sources close to Obama have said that one must not read too much into this. It could be that Obama does not want the presidential candidate to receive the post through a “coronation”, but rather as a result of a consensus in the Democratic Party. Abortion and climate Biden and Harris are close politically. Both have worked for a relaxation of abortion laws and a greater investment in climate measures, in contrast to the Republicans’ Donald Trump. Harris goes even a little further than Biden in these areas, which politically are her strongest political issues. When Joe Biden resigned as presidential candidate, he gave his full support to his own vice president taking over the post. She also stood behind Sanders’ health plan, but walked away from him and launched her own, similar, but more privatized, health plan, writes Politico. But unlike Biden, Harris has not particularly excelled in foreign policy. She has often followed Biden’s policy. Trump as a competitor If Harris becomes the Democrats’ presidential candidate, she can expect a long series of feuds with the Republicans’ Donald Trump. Trump has come out hard against Joe Biden in his presidential campaign and has almost consistently called him “crooked Joe” in recent months, i.e. “corrupt Joe”, made fun of his age and made several personal attacks against Democrats. According to a source the New York Times has spoken to, the apparatus around Trump is now working to find out how they can best smear Harris. Trump’s spokesperson has not commented on the case.
