This is confirmed by the leader of “Janteloppet”, Pål Trøan Aune, to VG. – We separate teams with Ski Classics. We are coming up with a new edition of the race, where we will try to reach the majority of people and the elite, which we call the “Janteloppet Grand Prize”, said Aune. After several years of success with the “Janteloppet”, Northug’s race was the end of the Ski Classics last season. The race then went over 100 kilometers, but in the new edition it will not go all that far. For the best, the race will be 40 kilometres, while hobbyists will walk 20 kilometres. – The prize money will total a minimum of 100,000 euros (NOK 1.15 million) distributed among the top 20 in the women’s and men’s class. We continuously work to improve and look forward to developing cross-country skiing even more, says Aune. (NTB)
