5 November 2023 at 16:53 Remi-André Svindland sensationally secured promotion to the Eliteserien for KFUM – beat Skeid 1-0 Bakgårdsklubben KFUM Oslo is ready for the Eliteserien in football for the first time in the club’s history after they beat Skeid 1-0 “at home” on Sunday afternoon. The capital city club has a lead of five points down to Kongsvinger, and thus cannot be caught up when there is only one league round left. Fredrikstad also secured Eliteserien contact just under a month ago. Remi-André Svindland scored the goal that secured promotion for YMCA after 67 minutes. “Kåffa” had to celebrate promotion at the Intility Arena as there are no floodlights up at Ekeberg. The Oslo club had anything but a “flying” start to the season. Success coach Jørgen Isnes transferred to Strømsgodset and took with him the defensive bat Fredrik Kristensen Dahl. Midfielder Aaron Kiil Olsen also transferred to Vålerenga, while veteran Jørgen Hammer put his shoes on the shelf. The club still retained much of its continuity when assistant Johannes Moesgaard took over the helm and embarked on his first season as head coach. Moesgaard had a tough start in his new role as YMCA had to wait until the seventh round of the series before their first victory came. Since then they never looked back. YMCA has never played in the Eliteserien before, and historically is not a trotter in the 1st division either. The Oslo club moved up to the second highest level for the first time in 2016, but moved directly down again and stayed in the 2nd division for two new seasons. In 2019, they moved up to the 1st division again, and under Isnes’ management, “Kåffa” became a club to be reckoned with in the battle for the qualifying places. (NTB)
