Gives the hospitals an extra NOK 2 billion

All the health institutions in the country receive a total of NOK 1.6 billion at the end of the year. This is money that goes into the operating budgets. – It can both contribute to better activity and further efforts to reduce waiting times, says Health Minister Jan Christian Vestre to news. In addition to this general budget increase, NOK 200 million will therefore go to Helse Midt-Norge, earmarked to improve the user-friendliness of the controversial record system Helseplattformen. – I am very concerned that we must learn from the National Audit Office’s report. And it is important that the recommendations are followed up, and that Helse Midt-Norge also takes the input that has come in, and that comes from users, healthcare personnel and clinicians, about the need to both increase user-friendliness, but also increase efficiency in the solution, says Vestre. An extra NOK 200 million also goes to Helse Nord for work with security psychiatry. Must take the criticism seriously – If we are to have the world’s best health service, we must have outstanding professionals, which we have. But we must also have modern hospital buildings and up-to-date medical equipment, says Vestre. Now he has found NOK 200 million on the eve of this year’s budget to make it easier to use the journal system. – And it is not an insignificant sum, so we hope that this can contribute to Helse Midt-Norge being able to make better arrangements for user-friendliness. He says the company must take seriously the feedback that comes from those who use the system. – I have had it demonstrated myself, both at St. Olav and most recently at Ålesund Hospital, and I see, without being a clinician myself, that there is potential to improve user-friendliness and increase efficiency in the system. The Minister of Health hopes that this grant, in addition to the increase that all health institutions receive, will contribute to just that. In the award, the ministry refers to the National Audit Office’s findings, assessments and recommendations. “The department proposes to grant NOK 200 million to contribute to Helse Midt-Noreg’s work to facilitate increased user-friendliness in the Health platform,” it says. Furthermore, it states that the work should make it easier for health personnel to use the health platform and provide better efficiency in the solution. – As Minister of Health, do you feel under pressure that this should get better now, especially after the National Audit Office’s hard-hitting report? – Yes, it is a very serious report. It is primarily about the introduction of the platform. We know it was very demanding at St. Olav. It has been challenging in Møre and Romsdal, but it looks like things have gone somewhat better there, says Vestre. The minister says it is a bit early to say anything about the introduction in Helse Nord-Trøndelag, since it has only lasted a few weeks. – We also have to remember that there are different opinions about this as well. I have also met users of the Health Platform who are satisfied with it. He says that several of the municipalities that have adopted it like it. – But we still have to take seriously the feedback many users give about what could be improved. Has been clear Shortly after the National Audit Office presented its devastating report, the Minister of Health called the Chairman of Helse Midt-Norge to a meeting. Vestre says he has been clear to both chairmen and the CEO that it is very important that the recommendations are followed up. – They must take the users’ feedback seriously and measures must be put in place to improve functionality and efficiency. – Do you have confidence in the Board of Health in Mid-Norway? – I have confidence that the board will follow up on the National Audit Office’s report. And that they ensure that users and shop stewards are included very closely in a good way. That the concerns and challenges are taken with the utmost seriousness. And that you do everything you can to improve these weaknesses and make the system as good as possible. – That is what is the focus now, concludes Vestre. Published 21.11.2024, at 13.57
