This is confirmed by both Sampdoria and Juventus, two clubs Vialli played for in his distinguished career, on Twitter. – Ciao, Gianluca, both clubs write on the social media. The 58-year-old had been ill with cancer for a long time and died in London today, Friday. Vialli is survived by his wife and two children. – No, so sad. An incredibly great guy. Terrific and professional player and manager, says Tore AndrĂ© Flo to news. Flo played alongside Vialli at Chelsea. During a long playing career, Vialli played for clubs such as Cremonese, Sampdoria, Juventus and Chelsea. He quit in 1999 and then tried his hand as a football coach, managing both Chelsea and Watford from the sidelines. He also got 59 games for the Italian national team and scored 16 goals. He helped win World Cup bronze in 1990. In 2015, he was inducted into Italian football’s Hall of Fame. Vialli, considered one of the best Italian strikers of his generation, was a very versatile striker. He hammered in scores, and scored all kinds of goals. He was fast, strong, tactically smart and not only an eminent goalscorer, but also a skilled facilitator. He was part of Roberto Mancini’s support staff that won the European Football Championship in 2021. The two were striker partners at Sampdoria in the 1990s and formed a fearsome striker pair that shot Sampdoria to league gold in 1991.
