Fritz Aanes and Stig-André Berge finished as national wrestling coaches – news Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

The case is updated. There have been murmurs in the Norwegian wrestling community for a long time. No athletes managed to qualify for the Olympics last summer, and for the national team this year’s season was also a setback. Now it is clear that the coaches are retiring. – It will be difficult to continue the work that has begun when we and the athletes are so far apart. It is about our philosophy and our system that we believe in, and we will not deviate from that, say Fritz Aanes and Stig-André Berge in a press release from the association on Thursday. – The Norwegian Wrestling Association, Fritz and Stig-André part as good friends, and wish each other all the best for the future. The Norwegian Wrestling Federation would also like to thank them for everything they have meant to Norwegian wrestling, both as athletes, coaches and ambassadors, says general secretary Morten Sandnæs. Baldauf: – Very bad National team athlete Felix Baldauf says that “there are no bad feelings, other than that it is very painful”. – I think it’s very awkward, because we have a long history. I have had Stig both as a teammate and as a coach. Fritz has been my coach since I started in the youth team, that is for 10 years. They have been part of my life and venture for so long. It remains as a void, but I understand that it turned out the way it did, says Baldauf. – I understand Fritz and Stig, and I understand our perspective as athletes. We are far apart. The athletes and coaches have different ideas about future investment, and we have demanded changes that are not in line with Fritz and Stig’s philosophy and system. Fritz has so much faith in his philosophy and system, and will therefore never work under conditions he does not have 100 percent faith in, just as we cannot break under conditions we do not believe in, says Baldauf. Was critical of the athletes Fritz Aanes was strongly critical of the athletes on the national team after the World Wrestling Championships in the autumn. – In advance I had no expectations, because we have struggled with illness and injuries. But then I also have to say that the athletes have not been good enough. They have not done the job one hundred percent and wrestling as number one, said Aanes in September about the WC. – Sometimes you have to take responsibility as a coach, but not here. There is nothing wrong with the program, it is wrong with the athletes, Aanes said at the time. This year, both Exauce Mukubu and Grace Bullen have ended up on the outside of the national team. The two wrestlers responded by taking WC gold in the men’s U23 class and WC silver in the women’s senior class, respectively. Aanes and Stig-André Berge have not yet responded to news’s inquiries on Thursday. Stig André Berge dreams of ending his career with a medal during the WC in Oslo. 130 kg Oskar Marvik shows that the future of Norwegian wrestling is bright.
