Freight train derailed after being hit by rockfall – news Rogaland – Local news, TV and radio

– We received a message a little before three o’clock last night that a goods train had derailed. It was a full alarm, and we moved out with a crew of 10 to 12 men, says emergency manager at Lund fire brigade Stig Skåland. According to Bane Nor, the rockslide happened just before two o’clock last night near Heskestad in Lund municipality in Rogaland. The landslide is described as around 1 meter high and 10 meters wide, and is a mixture of earth, stone and roots. – The first thing we did was to get the train driver to safety and secure the area. The train driver was checked by medical personnel, and he escaped physically unharmed from the incident. Between six and seven carriages have derailed due to the rock slide. The train will be around 380 meters long with many carriages. – There is major material damage, and it will take a long time to clean up here. – Is this a racially dangerous area? – I don’t know, but the slide has been running like clockwork. It has rained a lot last night. What has come down is a large boulder in addition to the rest of the landslide. It is probably the one who caused the train to derail. The fire service has checked whether there is a leak from the tracked vehicles. – It seems fine. The rails are broken over a 10-metre width, and the carriages are in a crumple according to Skåland. – It is completely dark here now. We have withdrawn from the area in the event of several races, and will take a closer look at this when it becomes clear. The motorway is also blocked off. There are old E39s that are blocked off.
