At 02.18 the police received a report from a person on land on Landøya who had heard a boat hit a reef. – Calls for help were heard from the scene, operations manager Vidar Pedersen in the Oslo police district told news. The boat had run aground on a reef around 600 meters south of Landøya. A boat from the fire service, a rescue boat, a helicopter from the air ambulance and the police were immediately dispatched to the scene. – We eventually got in touch with a person on board the boat and had a dialogue with that person throughout large parts of the rescue mission, says Pedersen. Ended up in the sea After around 15–20 minutes, the boat sank. All four on board the boat ended up in the sea. “Shortly afterwards, the fire boat and rescue boat arrived and got two people on board in each boat,” says Pedersen. They were driven to land where they were received by police and health personnel. – As it appears so far, there is no indication that anyone is seriously injured, but this is now being checked by health personnel, he says. A rescue operation was launched on the night of Sunday at Landøya in Asker after four people ended up in the sea when a boat ran aground. Photo: PhotoRunner AS Dramatic incident – It was quite a dramatic incident and completely dark, so we are at the mercy of messages from people on shore who have seen something, in addition to being in contact with one of the passengers, Pedersen tells NTB. The fire service states that they had three fire boats, rescue divers and many crews at the scene. – Rescue divers are in the water to search the boat that has gone down, writes the Oslo Fire Brigade on Twitter. The operations manager says it is not yet clear how the accident happened. He says there is no indication that more people were involved. – This was a potentially dangerous situation, so large resources were deployed, says Pedersen
