4 October 2022 at 10:58 Foreign Ministry summons Russia’s ambassador Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conducted a conversation with Russia’s ambassador to Norway, says Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt (Ap) in a press release. – We called in the ambassador to once again make clear Norway’s view on the decision to incorporate four Ukrainian regions into Russia. This is a clear violation of international law. Fictitious referendums do not change this, says Huitfeldt. Last week, the four Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson were annexed and incorporated into Russia. The conversation took place after Russia’s annexation. The decision was strongly condemned by Prime Minister Støre and Foreign Minister Huitfeldt. – Norway will maintain the political, economic and military support for Ukraine in close cooperation with allied countries. We support Ukraine’s sovereignty, the right to decide within its own borders, and the right to defend itself, says Foreign Minister Huitfeldt. EU countries have already called in Russian ambassadors in a coordinated response.
