The man in his 20s has been convicted of several sexual assaults, acts and violations against children. The children were between 14 and 16 years old when the abuse took place. The verdict states that the man abused his position as a football coach. He is now sentenced to two years and six months in prison, and will never be allowed to hold voluntary positions or leadership positions in organized leisure activities for children and young people in Norway. He must also pay reparation to three of the victims. We are familiar with the verdict and will use it for the next two weeks to assess whether it should be ducked, says defender Olav Sylte to news. Convicted of abusing seven children The 20-year-old was charged with prolonged abuse of a total of eight children. The man has always denied criminal guilt. The man was acquitted on one of the charges, which concerned the sending of sexualized photos on Snapchat. He has thus been convicted of abusing a total of seven children. Difficult time for the offended The former football coach was arrested on 20 August 2020. The next day, he was remanded in custody for four weeks with a letter and visitation ban. Assistance lawyer Jorunn Karin Ingebretsen said that it had been a long and difficult time for the aggrieved in the case, when the trial started towards the end of April. After the arrest, the police made a number of electronic seizures. – From experience, it takes some time to go through the seizures. The case is a priority and we want to talk to people who have information, and who may have been exposed to something, said police attorney Henrik Bjugan Hegdahl to news in September 2020.
