Does history repeat itself in  Fleury-Mérogis  (Essonne)? Just one year after the tragic shooting during a rap event in May 2024, yet another  shooting  has marred a festive evening. This unfortunate incident occurred on the dawn of June 9, 2025, yet again in the  commercial area  of  La Croix Blanche , the largest in Île-de-France.

This time, events unfolded just before 6 AM in the parking lot of  La Suite 91 , a reception hall where a private event had just concluded. According to preliminary information, a man in his twenties, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was targeted and shot at least once. A  9 mm bullet  pierced the armpit, striking a vital area.

Upon arrival of the firefighters and the  Emergency Medical Services  (SMUR) from  Juvisy-sur-Orge , the victim was in  cardiac arrest  and could not be saved. The physician on-site pronounced him dead. Intriguingly, the young man appeared to be an outsider to the event, and it remains unclear why he was present outside the venue.

A Suspect on the Run

According to our sources, the shooter fled the scene immediately in a  Mercedes , witnessed by numerous onlookers. Authorities are currently searching for this individual. The  public prosecutor’s office  in  Évry-Courcouronnes  has confirmed the initiation of an investigation into  intentional homicide , which has been handed over to the  Paris Research Section  (SR).

By around 10 AM on Monday, military personnel were still active on-site. The parking lot was littered with over  70 yellow markers  placed to identify potential evidence: cups, bags, and cigarette butts. The overall scene exuded a sense of  chaos .

A few meters away, two cleaning staff busily washed down the terrace and the inside of the reception hall. “We’re prohibited from speaking,” one of them politely whispered to us.

This incident undeniably evokes memories of the  shooting on May 25, 2024 , in another reception hall in Fleury, where a  rap event  had also taken place. Multiple gunshots resulted in one death and one injury. Just weeks prior, another individual had been  shot  following a similar event.

The recent shooting not only raises questions about public safety but also highlights a disturbing trend linked to nightlife events in the region. As Fleury-Mérogis continues to grapple with its reputation, citizens and law enforcement authorities alike are calling for measures to prevent such incidents from recurring. With the community still reeling from this tragedy, it is crucial to address the underlying issues contributing to violence in public spaces.
