The flatworm was named Derogenes abba in Latin. The finding was recently published in the journal Parasite. – The name is a way of paying tribute to the group 50 years after the Eurovision victory in Brighton, says the researcher responsible for the project, Chahinez Bouguerche at the National Museum of Natural History in a press release. She listened to songs like “Dancing Queen”, “Chiquitita” and “Money, Money, Money” while working on the drawings of the newly discovered flatworm. Bouguerche believes the call is “an example of how researchers can honor cultural icons and at the same time highlight the importance of their area”. The new flatworm was found in salmon collected on a research trip organized and partly financed by UiT Norway’s Arctic University.
