– Those who were inside the home have got out on their own, says operations manager Eyvind Formo at the Agder police district. The fire service has now gained control of the fire in the home in the Tjønneheia housing estate on Åros in Søgne. For a while there was a danger of it spreading to other houses and people from three neighboring houses were evacuated. One house, located a few meters away, was doused with water to keep the flames away. It was scary, and I understood the seriousness and called 113, she says. She stayed with several other neighbors and watched the fire, while they waited for the fire crews. – It was absolutely terrible and poor them. I’m completely shaking, it’s tough, she says. During the fire, the flames from the roof rose several meters into the air, and eventually the roof collapsed. Due to a lot of smoke, neighbors in Tjønneheia were asked to close their windows. Three neighboring houses evacuated A total of eight people were evacuated from the house that burned, as well as a neighboring house. – Some of them were at home, some were at work and some were at school, says Formo in the police.
