Fire in building at Gulset in Skien – news Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

Just after 6pm on Thursday evening, the emergency services were notified of a fire in a building in a residential area on Gulset in Skien. Just before 10 p.m., the police report that the fire service has brought the fire under control. At 20:45 the building was still on fire, but the fire brigade reported slightly less smoke. – It doesn’t burn quite that much, but no control has been reported yet, operations manager Øyvind Hammervold told the police. Residents who were evacuated from the neighboring buildings were eventually told to move back home. – Completely surreal The building primarily contains commercial activities, including the Gulset doctor’s office. General practitioner Anniken Aase Sommerfelt has worked here for over 11 years. Now most of the things at her workplace have probably burned up. She was alerted to the fire by the wife of a patient. – I think it’s completely surreal, you don’t understand it right away. It is very, very sad. She estimates that around 6,000 patients will be affected. Four GPs have their offices here. All patients who need urgent help must visit the emergency room tomorrow. But Sommerfelt currently knows little about how the road will continue. The municipality must help them find a solution for a temporary operation. – It was very scary Shiraz Sadic Ali was among those who were evacuated because she lives in an apartment building next to the fire scene. SCARY: It was an overly dramatic afternoon for the family of Shiraz Sadic Ali. Photo: Helena Rønning / news She had just come home from work when a man came to her door. He knocked very hard before running. Ali sent her children out before she started knocking on neighboring doors. – It was very scary when we came out. I tried to knock on the door where an elderly lady lives, but she said no and refused, says Ali. After some persuasion that this would go well, she should have helped the woman out. Ali’s hands are still a little sore from pounding as hard as she could. But that doesn’t matter to her, now that she knows everyone got out safely. The Gulset shopping centre, a grocery store and a grill were also closed as a result of the fire. On Thursday evening, the police believe it is too early to determine why the fire started.
