– Parts of the building are still burning. The fire is on the first floor. The building is a semi-detached house with a plinth, says task leader Tore Laugtug in the Værnes region’s fire and rescue service. The burning building is located in a housing estate on Stokkberga in Stjørdal. It was at 04.46 that the fire service received a report about the fire. There should be no people in the building as it was undergoing renovation. – The fire service was on the scene at 5am and there were open flames at the scene. It is a three-person home that is under construction, says operations manager Viola Elverum at Trøndelag police district. There is little wind in the area, which is beneficial in preventing the fire from spreading to other homes in the neighbourhood. The building is located at the end of a cul-de-sac. Full fire There is a lot of smoke in the area and the neighbors have been asked to close their windows. According to the fire service, there is a fire in both apartments on the first floor of the building. – The fire started in a middle section. When we arrived there was heavy smoke and a fully developed fire. The fire has spread to apartment number 2 in connection with the roof, says Laugtug. Smoke divers have been inside the building. – We started with external extinguishing and turned down the heat. Now we have sent in smoke divers from two sides, says Laugtug.
