LATEST: The ferry is free and on its way to Leirvåg. On Thursday morning, there was a problem on the Leirvåg-Sløvåg ferry connection on county road 57 in Vestland. The ferry suddenly lost its anchor. When they had to pull it up again, it turned out that it had caught on a cable, says regional manager Tor Kristoffersen in Fjord1 to news. – We are unsure what the cause is. It has braking mechanisms and shouldn’t come loose, says Kristoffersen. By 12 o’clock the ferry had cleared. The ferry had then been stuck for well over an hour. The connection is still suspended. – We have to look at the anchor and find out what has happened. If the thing is damaged, it can be a relatively short time before the ferry is in operation again, says Kristoffersen. – Heard a boom. The ferry was stuck in the fjord with 38 passengers on board. One of them was Ronny Hagen. He says that he heard a crash shortly after the ferry left the quay at Sløvåg. – We heard a boom and an insane noise. We ran out to see and then the ferry had stopped. It looks like the anchor has caught in one of the power cables. The captain of the ship confirmed to news that they had a problem for about an hour. – It is not critical, but I am busy with the situation and cannot talk more now, says captain Morten Falkanger. STANDING STANDING: The ferry is standing still a couple of hundred meters from the quay at Sløvåg. Worry – There were some worried looks when the ferry stopped, and people wondered what to do now, but they kept calm. Hagen is a driver and on his way to Bergen with eight passengers who are to catch a flight to the Netherlands at 2 pm. After an hour on board the ferry, he darkly watches that they arrive on time. The ferry is stuck close to shore. Photo: Ronny Hagen
