In February this year, he is said to have knocked her unconscious, before he twisted a cord from a heater around her neck and tightened it, according to the indictment. His then wife is said to have escaped with her life because their eleven-year-old daughter interrupted the assassination attempt. The man in his 40s is also accused of threatening his daughter with a knife when she tried to break in. Later, he is said to have threatened both his daughter and his ex-wife that he would kill the daughter if they were not quiet. The following day, he is said to have abducted the victims to another address, and held them there against their will. In March this year, he pleaded not guilty to attempted murder. The trial against the man is scheduled to start at the end of January.
