27 February 2024 at 21:28 World Food Programme: Famine imminent in northern Gaza The World Food Program (WFP) notes that Gaza is now experiencing “the worst level of child malnutrition anywhere in the world”. – One in six children under the age of two is acutely malnourished, says Carl Skau, deputy managing director of the UN organisation. According to the WFP, at least 576,000 people in Gaza – a quarter of the population – are “one step away” from famine. – We must all live up to our responsibility to ensure that it does not happen on our watch, says Skau. He stresses the need to give aid workers increased access to Gaza, in order to be able to implement aid work on the scale required to reverse the serious humanitarian crisis that is now gripping Gaza.
