On Sunday, a 77-page report was published about the perpetrator and the efforts of the police in Uvalde during the school shooting at Robb primary school. The findings of the report show a failure in the system, not only with local police, but also with national police authorities. 19 children and 2 teachers were killed in the attack on 24 May. The police effort was uncoordinated and lasted for over an hour, according to the report. Among other things, there was confusion about who led the operation. Pete Arredondo was responsible for school security in the district, and several of the police officers have since said that they thought he was the leader. Others at the scene have said they did not know who led the operation. Arredondo, for his part, has stated that he did not see himself as the leader of the operation. “The lack of leadership may have contributed to the loss of life because injured victims waited over an hour for help, and the shooter continued to sporadically release his weapon”, the report states.
