Fond Memories of Universitario
Despite the passage of time since his departure from University of Sports, Fabián Bustos cherishes enduring memories from his tenure at the club. His leadership led to a remarkable campaign, culminating in a dual national championship during the club’s centennial. This achievement fostered a profound connection between Bustos and the institution.
A Grateful Heart
In a recent interview with ‘U World Collective‘, Bustos expressed heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to coach at Universitario. He noted how the club provided him with the optimal conditions for success and integrated him into a rich sporting culture that he values deeply.
A Lasting Impact
Bustos stated, “I feel like today I adopted him or he adopted me. I feel part of it, I feel like a fan, I feel like a person who is grateful to the club for how it treated me.” Reflecting on his time, he added, “We believe that in the 16 months that we had to be here we gave our best.” He remains involved with the team, watching games, and connecting with former players.
His contributions led the team to its 28th championship star, solidifying his legacy within the club.
Memories of Monumental Achievements
During discussions about the centennial celebrations, Bustos recalled the challenging matches against rivals like Lima Alliance. He fondly described the year as a “crazy party,” celebrating victories in both classics and remarking, “We won all our home games.”
Current Status and Future Plans
As of now, Fabián Bustos is eager to explore new opportunities after his departure from Olympia Club due to unsatisfactory results. He has opted to take a break from coaching, focusing on time spent with family. He is open to future projects, indicating a desire to resume coaching by the end of the year.
“I left the doors open in some situations to see and take a firm step as a family and not make mistakes.” He remains grateful for his past experiences and is keen on continuous learning, signaling his readiness for new challenges.
Despite receiving offers related to Peruvian football, Bustos has expressed his commitment to Universitario, stating, “I don’t see myself anywhere other than the ‘U’.” His deep connection with the club remains evident, making it challenging for him to envision a future elsewhere.
