– There are several children who have the status of offended in the case, including children with whom the accused has come into contact as a sports manager. I don’t want to say anything more concrete about how many children are offended collectively or individually in the charge. This is what the prosecutor in charge of the case, police attorney Ingrid Thorsen in the Agder police district, says. The man was arrested on Friday 16 August and imprisoned on Saturday 17 August, charged with dealing with sexualized representations of several children. The charge has now been extended to also apply to repeated physical sexual abuse against children under the age of 14. The police have today requested that the man be remanded in custody for a further eight weeks with a ban on letters and visits and a media ban, of which 4 weeks in full isolation. Held information meeting for parents On Wednesday afternoon, the police held an information meeting with guardians of children in the sports club who have participated in activities related to the accused. The police believe that it was important that parents received information about the extended charge first. – We have great understanding that this is a demanding matter for many. The police are asking people who think they may have information in the case to contact them. The police will not go into details of the case at this time. – The investigation concerns a serious charge which, in addition to the accused, affects several children and their guardians, and it is important that this work is done in a way that takes care of the case’s information and all involved parties, says Thorsen.
