Expect high temperatures in southern and central Norway for the week, but there will be rain in the north – news Vestland

The week started quite cool across the country. But later in the week, temperatures may reach 20 degrees in several places in the country. – The heat is returning. You still have to wait a bit for the real winter, says on-duty meteorologist Marek Ratajczak. It is Thursday in particular that stands out as a potentially hot day in southern Norway, he says. – Then we can start to get 20 degrees in North-Westland and in Trøndelag, he adds. Warm air masses from the south There are strong low pressures from the Atlantic Ocean that stay just far enough away from the land that it does not get wet, but that they bring strong southerly winds with them. It is this wind that brings warm air masses from the south. – The typical thing is that we get it in the valleys, such as in Tafjord and Sunndalsøra. These are fairly typical places where you get high temperatures in the cold half of the year. The meteorologist points out that the heat record for October is in Molde, so it can be quite hot also further towards the coast. Wet in the north – sending out a yellow danger warning Although the low pressure keeps southern Norway dry, the same cannot be said for the north of the country. The low pressure ensures a wet start to the week in many places in the north. – We have actually sent out a yellow danger warning that applies to Lofoten and the north of Salten. We are expecting between 35 and 50 millimeters over the course of twelve hours from Tuesday evening to Wednesday afternoon. He asks people to be aware that there may be autumn leaves that can block where the water is supposed to flow out. A yellow danger warning has been issued in Lofoten and parts of Salten. Photo: Meteorologists Towards the end of the week, the high pressure moves east and opens for rain in the south of the country. This applies south of Jotunheimen and south of Dovrefjell. – Southern Norway gets a fairly dry start to the week, but towards the end of the week it turns a bit and then it is those a little further south in the country who get a little more rain – while there is more rain in the north.
