– I don’t understand much of why it happens. Or – I understand a little. We have very poor speed, all of us who ski jump from Fischer. That makes it a little more difficult, says Halvor Egner Granerud to news. The ski brand gets a lot of the blame when Halvor Egner Granerud has to explain the sensational declines in this year’s jump week. Granerud won in both Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen last winter, but went out in the first round on the same slopes this season. In today’s race, he lost the duel against Piotr Zyla. But he has no immediate solution to the problem of “slow” skis. – There is nothing to do with it. If I could do it, I’d go up here and melt down the track a bit so it’s not so tight. This season it looks to be far leaner both in terms of results and income if Granerud’s weak form continues. – This is actually one of the worst starts I’ve had in terms of jumping in a new year. I usually do it terribly sharp in the practice round before it rained here, but today it was not good, says Granerud. Sports manager Bråthen promises that the national team apparatus will go to great lengths to solve Granerud’s problems. – How does it work in the back room these days? – There is a lot of work, more than we usually do. When we struggle, we work even harder. There will be little sleep for those who adapt the equipment to our athletes. Disappointing Norwegian day Marius Lindvik was the best Norwegian in 7th place. The other two Norwegians in the final, Daniel André Tande and Johann Andre Forfang, were 27th and 28th respectively. – Marius maintains a good level. He is a couple of steps away from top, but still good. The rest is weak, says sports director Bråthen. Slovenian Anze Lanisek won the race. German Andreas Wellinger leads Hoppuka after two races.
