Espen Teigen is said to have offered a source to write a case for payment – news Norway – Overview of news from various parts of the country

Teigen will not comment on the case to news and refers to the answer he has given to Nettavisen. Earlier this week, news revealed that Espen Teigen must have borrowed money from people he interviewed. Teigen has written several articles about the “justice” foundation in Nettavisen. In November last year, he was sentenced to repay NOK 27,000 to the general secretary of the foundation. On Saturday, Nettavisen writes that Teigen has documentation that Teigen will ask a source for NOK 10,000 to write articles about the matter. The Be Careful poster confirms that journalists must avoid ties that could create conflicts of interest or lead to speculation about incompetence. Goes through all the cases of Teigen The cases were never published, says editor in Nettavisen, Gunnar Stavrum, to news. – This happened one of the last days before he quit, says Stavrum. The editor of Nettavisen, Gunnar Stavrum, says that no cases were published about the source who is said to have received an offer to pay for a case. Photo: Mariam Butt / NTB Teigen left Nettavisen at the beginning of 2023. Stavrum will not comment on how Nettavisen came into contact with the mentioned source. – We have been in contact with the source in several contexts and have looked at the documentation submitted by the relevant parties. The online newspaper does not refer directly to what is written in the documentation which should show that Teigen wanted to be paid to make a case. news has asked about Nettavisen’s documentation. – It would not be right for us – nor for this matter – to hand over unpublished material. But as you can see from the case, Teigen does not contradict the content of the message, says Stavrum to news. Points to conflict with source Teigen confirmed to Nettavisen that he borrowed NOK 6,000 from the source. Furthermore, he says that the source was supposed to help him get his personal finances in order, but that he did not get the help they had agreed on. According to Teigen’s explanation to Nettavisen, it was this conflict that was the reason why he offered the source to charge for writing stories about him. – After countless messages and other contact from the source, who had made it clear that it was desirable to buy journalism from me, I gave the impression that we could arrange it. It was only to get money again after wasting all that time and energy on someone I had hired to help me with the finances, but who had actually made everything worse for me. I have since made it very clear that I would not deliver these cases, Teigen told Nettavisen. – I never, under any circumstances, had any thoughts of selling any journalism, he adds. Going through all of Teigen’s cases Stavrum now confirms that they are going through all of Teigen’s cases to investigate whether similar things may have happened in other cases. – It is clear that this is an unfortunate case for us. That there have been proven financial ties between a journalist and a source. It is even more serious that there is documentation that a journalist has asked for money to write something, he says. Stavrum says that they will now go systematically through all the cases that have been written about Teigen. – We are going to get to the bottom of this and come out with all objectionable conditions we may find. Nettavisen’s journalism is not for sale.
