Espen Lind and Bjarte Tjøstheim ready for “Jesus Christ Superstar” – news Culture and entertainment

Folketeateret is today announcing which artists and actors are ready for the production of Jesus Christ Superstar in the autumn. For several of them, musicals are a completely new genre. Last week it was announced that Aksel Hennie will play the role of Jesus. Aksel Hennie will play Jesus in Jesus Chris superstar at Folketeateret Espen Lind, currently a judge in the TV program “The Voice” playing the role of Pontius Pilate. – This will be something new for me. And I go to the role with horror mixed with joy. I’m well used to being on stage, but I’ve never done a play with actors before, says Lind. Espen Lind will play Pontius Pilate. Now he is looking forward to playing the man who condemned Jesus to death. – Pontius Pilate is a figure who may have gotten a bit of a bad reputation. But the musical points out that maybe he was pressured to do something he didn’t really want to do. And I find that interesting. From the Radio Reception to King Herod King Herod is portrayed by Bjarte Tjøstheim. Tjøstheim is known to many from the radio program Radioresepsen on news and the humor podcast Papaya. Tjøstheim is the son of a priest, and therefore thinks it was natural that he was asked. – I feel I am helping to carry on a tradition. Alice Cooper is also the son of a priest, and has played Herod. And now I will also be allowed to do it. Bjarte Tjøstheim is ready to follow in Alice Cooper’s footsteps and play King Herod. And the comedian currently has low shoulders. – For the time being, I have chosen to put all anxiety and fear aside. So right now it’s just pure joy. And then I bring up the anxiety when it starts to approach the premiere at the end of August. Controversial musical Jesus Christ Superstar is a British musical with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. It was first released on record in 1970 and has since been played on stages all over the world. When the musical came out, it was seen as controversial because the story was told through the eyes of Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus. Jeppe Beck Laursen has done a lot of theatre, but this will be the first time he will do a pure musical. He is betting that the background from the Silver Boys will come in handy. Photo: Javad Parsa / NTB But that makes the whole story more interesting, says actor Jeppe Beck Laursen, who will play Judas in the production. – It will be exciting to play one of the world’s most talked about, and perhaps hated, people. but I think it’s exciting that the story focuses on the man Judas, and not the myth, says Laursen. Would have a star team Several of those who have supporting roles have experience of being on stage, either as an actor or artist, but little or no experience from musicals. Among other things, Ingrid Håvik from Highasakite will play Mary Magdalene, Jonas Oftebro will play Peter, while artist Magnus Grønneberg will play the high priest Caiaphas. PR and marketing manager at the producer Scenekvelder, Birgitte Fagstad, says this has been deliberate casting. – Jesus Christ Superstar is in many ways the artists’ musical. And then we have to have the best star team. She says they were looking for stage-experienced performers, and that everyone who will be on stage has gone through many tests before they have been selected. But she also promises space for established and trained musical artists. – Now we have only released a bunch of the roles. Later, the ensemble will also be presented, and there will be a great group of people with an education.
