Eskil Ehd (19) had to undergo congenital injury twice – was the fastest on the team and made his A-team debut

Edh plays right wingback for league owner Lillestrøm. He was born in 2002, and had a long dream of playing for Lillestrøm’s A-team. A congenital injury to the kneecap seemed to stop the dream of the A-team. The kneecap was the crack, and the first attempt to seal the crack was of no use. It was not until after the second operation that Edh, who was then part of Lillestrøm’s academy, noticed progress. – I came back and had some sprint tests where I was the fastest on the junior team. Something had happened, says Eskil Edh to news. – What was the cause? – It must be the training I put down. I assume I did a part right there. I had a good support system, my teammates helped me, and when I first came back everything worked out. FAST: Edh is so quick that opponents sometimes use illegal drugs. Edh was admitted to Lillestrøm’s a-stall and made his debut in the 1st division in the autumn of 2020. Then, in 2021, Geir Bakke suddenly had a problem. The team’s right back was out with the quarantine, and Bakke lacked a replacement. At the time, Edh was a midfielder, but a chat with the coach changed that. – I do not have our back, says Edh. – But then I got the opportunity. It has been a long journey, he says. – Eskil has really had a steady rise and has sorted out his injuries. He has a very exciting physique. Since playing in midfield, he is tactically smart. He really has an exciting future, says Lillestrøm’s captain Gjermund Åsen. When the U21 national team went to the European Championships in June, Edh was again in place in national team manager Leif Gunnar Smerud’s squad. In Lillestrøm, he is the first choice on the right back. From his position, he has kept alive with a number of opponents this season. Together with his teammates, he has fought Lillestrøm up to first place when ten of 30 series rounds have been blown off. – It is some of the biggest I can experience. It is a long time left, but we have a good starting point, says Edh to news. Lillestrøm’s match against Rosenborg kicks off on Sunday 18.00 at Åråsen.
