21 December 2022 at 04:05 ESA rocket disappeared after launch The European space rocket Vega-C “was lost” shortly after launch in French Guiana, AFP reports, citing a source in the owner company. The accident at the Kourou Space Center happened on Tuesday. The control center lost contact with the unmanned rocket 10 minutes after launch. On board the rocket were two Airbus satellites, Pléiades 5 and 6, which were to be placed in orbit around the earth, in a network of satellites that deliver high-resolution images of the earth’s surface. – The mission is lost, says Stephane Israel, who is head of the private company Arianespace. He says there were problems with the launch vehicle and a “negative pressure” was detected in the second stage of the three-stage rocket. The company will now analyze data from the space flight to find out what went wrong. No fallout of wreckage has been reported after the incident. Last night’s launch was the first commercial launch of Vega-C after a successful maiden flight in July.
