– Norway was world -class on coronary management. We must also aim to be the best at handling the consequences and late injuries, says Erna Solberg. When the then Prime Minister Erna Solberg went to the pulpit five years ago, hold Norway breathed. “Now the emergency council is sitting and discussing measures that will be the most intrusive Norway’s population has experienced in peacetime,” Solberg said. Today, she thinks Norway was among the best at the handling of the pandemic. – We kept the level of infection very low until we had vaccines. So that people were better protected from the virus. After all, we were one of the countries that had the lowest mortality during this period, says Solberg. Now the Right leader wants us to become a world leader again. This time it is about the late injuries after Covid-19. See clips from the historic press conference on March 12 five years ago, when the government introduced the most intrusive measures in Norway in peacetime. Want to establish the Knowledge Center – the symptoms can be so severe that some are unable to work or participate socially as before. It is still unclear what causes these long -term complaints, and doctors do not find clear physical injuries that may explain the symptoms. Many young people are affected, says Solberg. Sickness absence increased sharply since the coronal virus made its entry. Only in the past year have there been 6400 more disabled people in Norway. At the end of 2023, 685,000 people between 20 and 66 years were out of work or education. Solberg refers to several reports from researchers, which shows that “long covid” may be the cause of much of the increase in sick leave in recent years. – On one day, we cannot complain about sick leave, and that it goes up, and the next day does not prioritize any of what may be the reason for it, says Solberg. If she comes in government position this fall, the Right leader will, among other things, establish a national knowledge center. – I think we sometimes have to cut politicians and say that the major people’s diseases must have priority in research, and this is the new one. We must research and gather the knowledge. Then we have to make sure that we get people back to their lives, says Solberg, who himself knows several who are affected by the disorder. These are the measures the Right will introduce: Establish a national professional environment on “Long Covid”, which will serve as a knowledge hub for the rest of the health service. Develop a package process for patients affected by late followers. Establish a “fast-track” scheme, where patients can come directly to a national professional environment. – Have felt alone Morten Iversen from Drammen is one of thousands of Norwegians affected by late followers. Four years ago, his life changed dramatically. One month after he was infected by the coronal virus, he woke up to a whole new edition of himself. – I felt completely out of power. Everything was very heavy. Even dressing was almost unaffordable. It struck like a bomb, Iversen told news. Do not recognize himself: Morten Iversen struggles with exhaustion after Covid-19. Now he has been on sick leave for four years. Photo: Jan-Erik Wilthil / news Today he is still partially sick, despite the fact that he has tried several treatment programs-I have felt some form of shame occasionally. I happen to think: What is it about something like me? Is it just that it hurts the will? There is a lot of doubt that arises when you do not get a proper form of follow -up from the health care system, says Iversen. He is positive about the signals of a national knowledge center. – There has been too much view around different treatment methods. A professional environment that can investigate available knowledge will make both investigation, diagnosis and treatment more holistically, Iversen believes. She herself has met many of those affected. – There are very strong meetings. To meet young people who do not have energy. Which is completely exhausted and that feels the brain is not working. They feel a very powerlessness. I simply don’t think they feel heard and seen, says Wilhelmsen Trøen. She warns that the theme will be central to Høyre’s national meeting, which starts March 20. -A major and growing problem recently concluded an expert group that hundreds of thousands of people in the Nordic countries may be affected by the Late Follar of Covid-19. Corona scientist and physician Arne Søraas have long warned about the possible consequences of the disease. Corona scientist and doctor Arne Søraas. Both international research and our own research show that “Long Covid” is a major and growing problem, if people are infected again and again, says Søraas. Now he welcomes Høyre’s notified efforts. – It’s very gratifying. This is the first time I see politicians who take “long covid” really seriously. It is needed. In particular, I think that all the patients found around Norway are very happy, says Søraas. Published 12.03.2025, at. 17.34
