4 September 2024 at 15:19 Erna Solberg comments on the Stavanger mayor’s resignation – This is a very sad and very serious matter. I take note of Sissel Knutsen Hegdal’s decision, and think it seems like a wise decision to resign, as I know this matter, says Conservative leader Erna Solberg. Today it became known that Sissel Knutsen Hegdal (H) is resigning as mayor of Stavanger after having used party funds for private consumption during the election campaign in 2023. Knutsen Hegdal notified the group board of Stavanger Høyre yesterday that she wants to resign as mayor in Stavanger, a post she has held since October 2023. – I hope Stavanger Conservatives will now calm down and that they will find a new mayoral candidate. Stavanger is a fantastic city and municipality, which needs good Conservative politics in the future as well, says the Conservative leader, and continues: – At the same time, I want to thank her for her political efforts for the Conservative Party over many years, and hope that she has good people around her themselves now. She needs that.
