The development of the oil field is politically controversial, and the decision to put money into the project was actually supposed to be made in December. The decision on development of the Wisting field is postponed for four years. The license is shared by Equinor, Aker BP, Petoro and Idemitsu. Increased costs are the reason for the decision to continue work for one of the northernmost oil and gas fields. – I think that is perhaps a wise assessment based on the risk, says the climate and environment minister to Nyhetsmorgen shortly after the announcement. Equinor now writes that they believe the investment will end up at NOK 104 billion.
