– I have received two job offers in the last year alone. Companies try everything to attract young people, says Mari Charlotte Holm. One year ago, she was a recent graduate and was employed by a large IT company in Oslo. Cohabitant Erling Tobias Skalleberg is a recent IT consultant in the same industry. She confirms that there are now more vacancies than candidates out there. In other words, it is a favorable market for young people who are looking for their very first “real” job. – We have experienced that it is a demanding market and recruit in. It is clearly the jobseeker’s market, says Horne. She believes the companies’ brand is crucial in attracting the right candidates. – Appearing as an attractive workplace then becomes even more important for companies. The first year, both have been on several trips, dinners and professional gatherings with other new employees. – The companies are very concerned with creating a good environment to retain new employees. Henriksen says that they will increase the number of employees by 50 percent in the next few years. Then they must get hold of young, newly educated and skilled minds. – The battle for talent is getting tougher. To be an attractive workplace, you have to stand out, says Henriksen.
