– My mother fell asleep quietly last night, confirms her son Hallvard Szemes to news on Wednesday afternoon. – It was very peaceful, it was all over in two hours, and the family was present. It was a nice end to a long life, says Szemes. Lystad was one of Norway’s most famous actors for several decades and has appeared in over 60 Norwegian films. She has had 160 leading roles on stage and contributed to countless TV productions. – She will be remembered as someone who spread both joy, laughter and seriousness. We carry the good memories with us. She has made an indelible impression on us and many others, says the son. Geir Kvarme: – a small piece of Norway Elsa Lystad and Geir Kvarme. Photo: Marius Alstedt / news Geir Kvarme, who played with Lystad in Fredriksson’s Factory, tells news that Lystad was himself until the end. – It hasn’t been that long since I visited Elsa. She was bad at the end, but she still had a glimpse, and you could see Elsa far in there even towards the end, says Kvarme. Lystad was one of the first actors Kvarme worked with. – I grew up with her and was very happy that I was allowed to work with her, she was a little piece of Norway from before I got to know her. – I think of her as a great gift that I have been allowed to have in my life. Anne Marie Ottersen: – came from a simple background Anne Marie Ottersen remembers Elsa Lystad as whole. Photo: NTB Actress Anne Marie Ottersen says she will remember her colleague fondly. – Elsa was a product of mood and humor and excess and joy. A lot of comedians say they’re not funny in private, but Elsa was! If things didn’t work in social contexts, Elsa stepped in and got the mood right. Ottersen points out that Lystad did not come from a furnished home. Mother, brother and Elsa lived in one room growing up. – She was a special person. She came from simple circumstances, and she always took that with her. When she became successful, she remained grounded. She was whole. There was never any fooling around with Elsa. Ottersen played with Lystad in the comedy Fredriksson’s factory, but she wants to emphasize that Elsa Lystad was not just a comedian. – I especially remember Elsa in the role of Selma Brøter in Per Bronken’s TV film of the same name. And she played in Chekhov’s “Three Sisters”. Elsa mastered the whole spectrum!, says Anne Marie Ottersen. Bør Børson She made her debut in the role of “Laura Isaksen” in “Bør Børson jr.” at Falkbergets teater in 1957. Throughout her career, she was employed both at Det Norske Teatret, Oslo Nye Teater and Den Nationale Scene. The big breakthrough came in 1965 when she, together with Rolv Wesenlund and Harald Heide Steen jr. started the revue theater Lysthuset in Oslo. The queues to see the fresh comedians who were to characterize Norwegian humor for several generations – must have wound around the quarter. For the last half of her active acting life, she worked as a freelancer and had some of her best-known roles there. Together with Aud Schønemann, Anne Marie Ottersen and Brit Elisabeth Haagensli, she formed probably the strongest quartet ever in Norwegian TV history. When the series became a feature film after three seasons, Lystad also played in it. She played Benny’s fiancee in the Olsen band, and was also in classics such as “Bør Børson jr.”. and “Flexnes”. In 2007, she was honored with the King’s medal of merit in gold for 50 years on stage. Fredriksson is making another attempt to rationalize the operation. Tommy has designed “Exotic nights” and the union wants a fire drill. The stage is set for more chaos in the hard-tested clothing factory. (news/NTB)
